The Piedmont Parents Network, in collaboration with Piedmont Middle School and the PUSD Wellness Center will present the award-winning documentary, Screenagers. The documentary follows physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston as she probes into the vulnerable corners of family life, including her own, to explore struggles over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Through poignant, and unexpectedly funny stories, along with surprising insights from authors, psychologists, and brain scientists, SCREENAGERS reveals how tech time impacts kids’ development and offers solutions on how adults can empower kids to best navigate the digital world and find balance.
As educators, PPN facilitators, counselors and mental health professionals, we hear regularly about the challenges parents face in helping their tweens and teens manage screen time and the pull of social media. Even if you’ve seen this film before, we encourage you to join us again with your screenaged child to explore, as a community, the impact of screens and social media. After the screening we’ll host table discussions and provide resources on how to support your family in finding balance in this digital age.
The 70-minute film will be followed by a discussion. Parents of grades 4th-12th and kids 11 and older are encouraged to attend. Seating is limited. Please RSVP HERE.
