The class covers the first term of a full-year Algebra 1 course in depth. The full Algebra 1 course is completed over two or three 11-week sessions, depending upon your student’s dedication and progress rate. To accommodate different student rates, the course will use the self-paced computer adaptive platform, Math Academy (MathAcademy.com), with a workshop component to allow students to work on problems at their own pace, under instructor guidance. Each class meeting will include a common lesson component that is centered around a key algebra topic, with all students working on the same content, before breaking for self-paced supervised workshop time. Each student is required to bring their own internet-enabled device.
•The class meets once a week for 90 min in-person on Wednesdays, and once a week for 60 min online (for homework help) over Zoom on Mondays;
•Requires subscription to Math Academy, $49 per month;
• Additional time of at least 1 hour per week of homework will be expected.
Participants need to complete pre-Algebra course or equivalent. Age range 11 to 13, Grades 6 to 8
