Dress Best for Less Grants $50,000 for Piedmont Schools
PEF received a check for $15,000 in October and $35,000 in May from DBFL
The Board of Directors of the Piedmont Education Foundation (PEF) expressed their deep gratitude for the generosity of Dress Best for Less (DBFL). On May 16, DBFL Board Member and incoming PEF Board Member Nagisa Yamamoto presented a check for $35,000 to the PEF Board, an addition to the $15,000 contribution made last October. Said Yamamoto, “I am honored to be joining the PEF board as the new DBFL Representative. I am looking forward to working together to support the children of Piedmont.”
Outgoing PEF Board Chair Tonya Antonucci and Vice Chair Chad Olcott accepted the check on behalf of the PEF Board. “We are thrilled with this incredible contribution from Dress Best for Less,” said Antonucci, “This has been an important partnership for over 40 years and we look forward to continuing to strengthen it.”
Earlier this year, Olcott, owner of Mulberry’s Market, added a drop-off bin in front of the store. “Clothing donations had dropped off since the city closed the Carriage House,” said Olcott, “I wanted to make sure Piedmonters could easily keep DBFL well stocked with designer duds.” DBFL volunteers report a significant increase in quality contributions since the drop-off point was installed.
The $50,000 granted to PEF by DBFL will be added to Giving Campaign and other fundraising revenue, resulting in a total grant to Piedmont Unified School District of $3.8 million for 2024-25.
About DBFL
DBFL is a 501(c)3 nonprofit whose mission is to support the children of Piedmont, which it does by regularly donating to non-profit organizations like PEF. DBFL also supports other Piedmont-based student support organizations like the Turkey Trot and Wellness Center. DBFL proudly gives back to the greater community by regularly donating to community groups in the East Bay and beyond. These groups include Bay Area schools, St. Vincent de Paul, animal rescue organizations, Oakland Children’s Hospital, East Bay Children’s Book Project and more.
