Tai Chi Class Offered at Piedmont Adult School
Piedmont Adult School is offering a new class, Tai Chi From The Ground Up. The class will consist of ten sessions, held on Tuesday evenings, March 25 through June 3, from 7:00-8:30 pm.
In this class, students will learn the Thirteen Harmonies form of Chen-style Tai Chi. Instruction will focus on body awareness to increase coordination between one’s body and mind, while developing strength, flexibility and breath control. Each class will include relaxation, standing meditation, basic movement, and the Tai Chi routine.
Tai Chi From The Ground Up will be taught by Evelyn Lee, a 13th-generation disciple of Chen-lineageTai Chi. Born in San Francisco, Evelyn has lived in Oakland since 1980. She learned Tai Chi while in college in Taiwan, and has studied extensively in China with Tai Chi Master Chen Bing. Evelyn currently co-leads the Saturday morning Tai Chi class at the Oakland Asian Cultural Center.
