Calling all zymurgists: The Piedmont Center for the Arts’ 11th annual Artisanal Beer Festival organizers are putting out the call now for brewers to participate in this year’s event, taking place on Oct. 6 at 801 Magnolia Ave. from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. All categories of beer are welcome as long as they are craft-brewed. Awards will be given to Best Pale Ale, Best Lager, Best Porter, and Best in Show.

The volunteer-run festival is the largest fundraiser for the PCA. Event organizer Carter Dunlap said last year’s festival drew a crowd of 125 guests. This year’s judges are Piedmont Police Chief Jeremy Bowers, Piedmont Grocery’s Dave Larson, Piedmont Community Church Student Pastor Scott Kail, and Piedmont Recreation Director Chelle Putzer.

Tickets to the event are $15 for a custom PCA beer glass; $10 for a German Oktoberfest meal on the lawn, donated by Piedmont Grocery.
