Letter to the Editor | We doubled our contribution to the schools this year
Our community has a strong history of valuing and supporting education. It’s the number one reason most of us moved to Piedmont, and why my family has always supported PEF and the Giving Campaign.
Like other parents in town, I know that school has been far from perfect and that this year has been really tough for our kids both educationally and/or socially. Many of us are tired of distance learning and frustrated that school openings have been postponed again. Despite that I am extremely grateful to our teachers for adapting their teaching methodology to give my sixth grader a full day of live and dynamic classes each day.
It’s important to remember that this year’s Giving Campaign is raising money for the 2021/22 school year. So far, we have raised $2.4M. If we don’t meet our $3M goal our schools will suffer. Students and teachers will face another challenging year with the program cuts and/or increased class sizes needed to close the funding gap. State funding will not close the gap, it’s up to us!
This year it’s more important than ever for us to pull together as a community, put our frustrations aside and work to keep our schools strong, not just when they reopen but into the future.
Please participate in this year’s Giving Campaign today!
