PIEDMONT EDUCATION FOUNDATION TO PRESENT CHECK TO PUSD AND LAUNCH THE 2020-21 GIVING CAMPAIGN
Piedmont Education Foundation to present record-setting $3 million check to Piedmont schools On Wednesday, September 23, the Piedmont Education Foundation (PEF) will present a check for $3,015,704 to the Board of Education for the Piedmont Unified School District (PUSD). These funds are the culmination of PEF’s fundraising campaigns from the 2019-20 school year. These efforts included the most successful Giving Campaign to date, a 14% increase from the previous year, composed of donations from an impressive 1,300 households. 2020-2021 Giving Campaign to Launch September 22 Join us as we celebrate the launch of this year’s Giving Campaign with a mobile popsicle party on Tuesday, September 22 from 3-4 pm. Our “Piedmont Popsicle Truck” will be driving around town offering a free sweet treat to kick-off our campaign. To make it easy, our truck will follow a special distribution route (hint: think Turkey Trot). Catch the truck as our Giving Campaign volunteers pass out popsicles (all while following social distancing guidelines). Keep an eye on your mailboxes for this year’s Giving Campaign letter with information on how you can support our schools.
Why is the Giving Campaign so important?
During the coming school year, the difference between what the government and local taxes will contribute to PUSD and what it will cost to educate our kids is $1,930 per student. For PUSD to continue to offer small class sizes as well as programs and resources that you won’t find in most California public schools, it is critical to meet this funding need. “It is essential that we come together as a community to give this year to ensure our children have strong schools to return to post-pandemic,” shares Colleen Allan who, along with Amelie Kappes and Teebie Bunn Saunders, is co-chairing this year’s Giving Campaign. She adds, “Support this year is essential for us to continue to build stronger schools together.” The Giving Campaign committee is working toward 100% parent participation. Please visit the Giving Campaign website to donate.
